Chilean food is boring.
That is the sad truth given the vast range and high quality of the
fruits and vegetables. The seafood choice alone should be enough
to make this the most famous of all nations for preparing equisite
crab and bass dishes. Not so. The four most common ingredients here
are salt, vinegar, lemon and more salt.
Nonetheless, the scene
is improving rapidly. Ignore the vast swaths of McDonalds and Pizza
Hut which make Santiago seem like a weird mutation of some old US
City and focus on the traditional dishes which are nearly always
healthy, cheap and served in xlarge portions.
