Getting to
Arriving in Chile is hassle
free compared to most parts of the world. The planes are almost
always on time, the airport modern and clean and the entire experience
very smooth. You will never have to bribe an official in Chile and
except for very strict agricultural import laws, the airport experience
should be a breeze.
Airfares vary wildy with
tickets from New York ranging from USD$450 to $1200. Generally expect
to pay US$900 for RT ticket to Chile. Far and away, the best website
is that run by LanChile

Transit and airport taxis
Due to the fact that most of the international flights arrive
and depart in Santiago I confine myself to explain the airport transit
from Santiago airport. The airport is
located sixteen miles (26 km) northwest of the center of Santiago.
Taxi
The fare to the city center will be
about 16,000-18,000 Pesos ($30-$35) with a travel time of around
30 minutes. Fares are metered, but it is suggested that you negotiate
the fee in advance.
Bus
BIg
blue buse are just outside the arrival gate. For about US$2 they
will drop you downtown at the city terminal on Moneda Street , and
from there it is a short taxi ride to most hotels.
Rental Car
Avis, Budget, Chilean, Hertz, Dollar
and other local rental firms are at the airport.
Subway
There is a growing Subway
that runs from east to west and north to south in the city as well
as buses and taxis. The subway is safe modern and cheap. Use it
when you can it is always faster than driving.
